Luawata
Conservation is a privately funded hunting company that operates
in the Luangwa Valley of Zambia. The company is committed
to providing an exclusive safari service to clients and to
improving the quality of the trophy. Only limited hunting
is allowed at Luawata and less than half the set quota is
utilised each season. Nevertheless, the company purchases
the full quota at the beginning of each season and willingly
carries the cost of those animals not hunted.
In addition, a large portion of the revenue
generated by the safari operation is returned to the indigenous
population, thus insuring maximum benefit to the local community.
The Luangwa Valley is known as one of the
great game areas of Africa and Luawata lies in the very heart
of prime hunting country. The camp nestles under huge shade
trees on the banks of the Luangwa River, and offers comfortable
accommodation in thatched bungalows with en-suite bathrooms,
hot and cold showers and flush toilets. The camp uses solar
power for lighting and a generator is used to charge batteries.
Ice is plentiful and the camp cuisine is of a high standard
with a fine selection of wines and other drinks.
All the equipment at Luawata is of the best
quality and maintained to the highest standards. The hunting
cars are Toyota Landcruisers. The camp lies 400 miles northeast
of Lusaka, and the charter flight to the camp airstrip normally
takes 2 hours, depending on the type of aircraft used.
